Isochronal 3 is a fully mechanical, wall-mounted sculptural timepiece, manually wound daily.

The work is regulated by a seconds-beating double-ended pendulum and driven by a sculptural variation of the Grasshopper escapement, invented by British clockmaker John Harrison around 1722 and later used in several of his celebrated marine timekeepers.

Already highly sculptural in character, the Grasshopper escapement has a distinctive geometry that lends itself naturally to reinterpretation. In Isochronal 3, this historic mechanism is brought forward as a visible kinetic composition, where function, rhythm and form are inseparable.

The surfaces feature a combination of freehand and machine-applied perlage patterning, adding visual depth and a subtle sense of movement even when the work is at rest.
