CENturies of the Bristlecone

Centuries of the Bristlecone is a monumental clock designed and made by Phil Abernethy for the Nevada Museum of Art, based on a concept by experimental philosopher and artist Jonathan Keats. Created in collaboration with Jason Iceman, Brittany Cox,  and the Long Now Foundation the work brings together sculptural clock making, historic horological practice, and deep-time thinking. Designed to mark time on a monumental scale, the clock reflects the endurance of Nevada’s ancient bristlecone pines while re-imagining timekeeping as a contemporary artistic and philosophical object.
